Minden, NV – Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Minden, Nevada, is hosting a fast-track Recruitment Day, Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. at the agency’s main office located at 1038 Buckeye Road in Minden. This first-ever in-person recruitment day condenses all required testing into a single day where interested applicants can get a jump-start on their law enforcement career. Those currently working for a different law enforcement agency are also invited to attend to make a quick lateral move to Carson Valley. Applicants will complete a physical fitness test, oral board, and written exam in one day. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is the only law enforcement agency for the county serving the communities of Minden, Gardnerville, Genoa, Topaz Lake, Stateline, and Zephyr Cove. As a proactive enforcement agency, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office offers SWAT, K9, and EOD. Sheriff Deputies work in a pro-law-enforcement community where they are integrated regularly into community events and activities including the annual American Century Celebrity Golf Tournament and 4th of July festivities, both in South Lake Tahoe, as well as special events in the valley including the annual Candy Dance held in Genoa, Nevada at the end of September.
Benefits include modified field training, a four-day workweek, comprehensive medical benefits, 13 annual holidays, education incentives, and more. Competitive wages start at $62,000 to $84,200 for a Lateral Deputy Sheriff II (based on experience, plus shift differential, incentives and a take-home patrol car) or $59,000 for a Deputy Sheriff I (no experience). A substantial relocation reimbursement is offered for successful out-of-state applicants, as well as education and bilingual pay bonuses. Lateral moves are encouraged, and wages are based on experience.
