Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Hosts Open House

May 11, 2022, 4-7:00 pm

Minden, NV-The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will host an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Judicial Law Enforcement Building (JLEC) 1038 Buckeye Road, Minden, Nevada. The event will feature K-9 demonstrations, the SWAT team, Bike Team, Motorcycle Unit, Sheriff’s Office Vehicles, Marine Boats, Explorers, Search and Rescue, Jail walkthrough and many other special units and vehicles of the Sheriff’s Office.

“We like to showcase what we do for Douglas County in a way that allows people to bring in their families and experience what they can expect when we respond,” said Sheriff Coverley. “We bring out all our equipment, and people get to get inside it, they get to jump on it, they get to see actually what it’s like, not just seeing it drive by, and we provide that opportunity to ask questions and show the public all the services we provide.”

Among the vehicles available for the public to view will be the department’s MRAP, a large armored rescue vehicle designed to protect law enforcement while responding to dangerous situations. The community can also tour the jail facility, and people can experience our Virta use of force trainer.

“The public has assisted the office numerous times in apprehending criminals through the secret witness and tip hotlines and they continue to aid us in keeping Douglas County a safe community,” said Sheriff Coverley. “We enjoy taking this time to engage and we want to thank the public for their support.”
