MINDEN, Nev. (Oct. 30, 2026) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce its continued participation in the statewide Joining Forces traffic safety campaign for the 2026–2027 campaign year. This collaborative effort brings together 38 law enforcement agencies throughout Nevada to promote safer roadways through increased traffic enforcement, public awareness, and education.

The campaign will run from October 2026 through September 2027, with participating agencies working together to address dangerous driving behaviors and reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities.

"Traffic safety is a shared responsibility, and every decision we make behind the wheel can have a lasting impact on our families and our community. Our goal is simple: prevent crashes, save lives, and move closer to zero traffic fatalities," said Sheriff Dan Coverley.

As Douglas County continues to experience growth, increased traffic volumes bring additional challenges for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists. Through targeted patrol efforts and community education, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office is committed to identifying and addressing behaviors that put lives at risk.

Joining Forces is a high-visibility, multi-jurisdictional traffic safety initiative designed to improve roadway safety across Nevada. Campaign enforcement efforts focus on some of the most common contributing factors in serious and fatal crashes, including distracted and impaired driving, speeding, seat belt violations, and pedestrian safety.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office participates in the Joining Forces traffic safety campaign through grant funding provided by the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
