MINDEN, Nev. (June 6, 2025)—On June 1, 2025, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) deputies were dispatched to the 4200 block of Kyle Dr. in Wellington, Nevada, near Topaz Lake, for a report of a deceased person found in a residence. Upon arrival, deputies located George Walker Sr., 83, deceased.
According to responding deputies, Walker Sr. appeared to have been beaten and stabbed multiple times. He was transported to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office for a full autopsy. The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt and sharp force trauma to the head and body. The death was ruled a homicide.
DCSO investigators identified Brenda Lyon, 70, as the primary suspect. She was arrested today, June 6, 2025, and charged with open murder and elder abuse resulting in death. Lyon was booked into the Douglas County Jail and is being held without bail.
