Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Hosts Open House Friday, June 5, 2026, 4:30-7 p.m.

MINDEN, Nev. — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is hosting an open house Friday, June 5, 2026, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Judicial Law Enforcement Building (JLEC), located at 1038 Buckeye Road, in Minden, Nevada. The event will have K-9 demonstrations, an opportunity to meet the SWAT Team, Bike Team and Motorcycle Unit, as well as get an up-close look at Sheriff’s Office vehicles, marine boats and armored vehicles. East Fork and Tahoe Douglas fire departments, along with several other public safety entities, will also attend. Food vendors will be on site.
“We enjoy giving the community a hands-on look at what we do for Douglas County,” said Sheriff Coverley. “Families can come out, explore our equipment up close, and experience what it’s like when we respond. It’s more than just seeing us drive by — it’s a chance to ask questions, connect with our team, and better understand the services we provide. Get ready for a hands-on experience with Douglas County’s finest.”
Also on display will be the department’s BearCat — an impressive, armored rescue vehicle built to protect deputies in high-risk situations.
Visitors can also tour the jail facility and get an up-close look at fire engines and a helicopter, giving families a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of emergency response in action.
“Strong partnerships with our community play an important role in helping us keep Douglas County safe,” said Sheriff Coverley. “Through programs like Secret Witness and our tip hotlines, the public continues to help us solve crimes and support public safety efforts. Events like this help strengthen those relationships by giving the community an opportunity to connect with our deputies, learn more about what we do, and stay engaged and informed.”
