MINDEN, Nev. (March 16, 2026)––On March 15, 2026, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Blaze passed away at home. Blaze came to DCSO from Slovakia in 2021 as a puppy. He was a Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd cross and was certified in patrol, narcotics, and tracking. During his career, he was deployed 175 times, assisting in 13 arrests and seizing heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and mushrooms.

“Blaze was partnered with Deputy Robert Oaks, and together they were a great team. Blaze was a huge part of the DCSO family and an incredible force multiplier. He clearly loved working, and his impact in the community will be hard to replace, and he will be missed,” said Sheriff Daniel Coverley.
