Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 2105 Seeks Sponsors, Booths and Volunteers for “Safety Street 2025”

Free trick-or-treat event returns Oct. 31, 3–8 p.m., at Douglas County Fairgrounds
MINDEN, Nev. (Oct. 13, 2025) — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Explorer Post 2105 is calling on local businesses, organizations and community members to help support Safety Street 2025, a free, family-friendly Halloween celebration scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 920 Dump Road, in Gardnerville.
Designed as a safe place to trick-or-treat, kids attending will receive candy, enjoy food, prizes, participate in a costume contest and a themed “maze.” Due to the generosity of the community, participating businesses host decorated booths and fun activities as part of the event.
“Every child has the chance to go home with candy, a book and a prize,” said Sheriff Dan Coverley. “Safety Street is powered by our community, and we wouldn’t be able to do this without the numerous sponsors and volunteers who step up each year. Together, we create a safe, welcoming Halloween night that kids and parents look forward to.”
There are four ways to be involved:
- Sponsor – $300: Supports event essentials including food, candy, books, prizes and advertising. Sponsors are recognized in the local paper and may hang a banner along the Fairgrounds fence line leading up to the event.
- Host a Booth – Free: Businesses and organizations receive name recognition at their station inside the maze. Booths are responsible for decorating the space, handing out candy and offering a simple game or activity. A Best Booth award will be presented for standout décor.
- Donate: Financial contributions or in-kind items (candy, prizes, etc.) are welcome.
- Volunteer: Community members wanting to assist with set-up/tear-down, games and guest wayfinding ensure the event runs smoothly.
