TRIAD Senior Programs

Citizen PatrolTRIAD is a volunteer service organization combining a cooperative agreement between the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, East Fork Fire and Paramedic District, Tahoe Douglas Fire District, Douglas County Senior Services, State Of Nevada Aging and Disability, Carson Valley Medical Center, Douglas County Ministerial, Lake Tahoe Nevada Senior Center and Senior Volunteers.

The following are current TRIAD programs offered free to the public:

  • The File of Life: Receive a refrigerator magnet containing your medical history and current medications in the event you are unable to tell paramedics yourself.
  • Citizens Law Enforcement Academy: Held once a year, A program designed to educate our citizens in the various duties, programs, and assignments in and around the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
  • Senior for a Day Program: This annual celebration recognizes four seniors in Douglas County with a luncheon in their honor. Gift baskets are presented to them and they share their stories with the TRIAD members.
  • Senior Education Seminars: Senior Education Seminars dedicated to address the challenges facing senior citizens by providing prevention education, and raising awareness of safety to enhance quality of life.
  • Senior I.C.E. Program: Stands for "In Case of Emergency" and addresses the need to create emergency contacts in personal cell phones.
  • Good Neighbor Program: Ensures safety of home-bound, isolated elderly through friendship and by being a good neighbor. Volunteers receive training to recognize elder abuse and neglect and learn about community resources so that we may protect our elderly. To learn more call (775) 783-6461 or visit https://dcsogoodneighbor.com/.
  • Smoke Detector Assistance: Are you a Douglas County or Lake Tahoe resident and in need of smoke detector assistance? Lake Tahoe Residents, call Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District at (775) 588-3591 - Douglas Valley Residents, call (775) 782-9040.
  • Care Trak System: Utilized to find clients who wander like those with Alzheimer's Disease. These fast-acting devices have provided families with a strong sense of security in the event their loved one goes missing.
  • The Community Care System: A computerized telephone system designed to stay in touch with subscribers daily.
